چکیده

The objective of our paper is to start the theoretical investigation of the most commonly used mathematical model for natural convection in a horizontal annulus. First, one shows existence of solutions for the unsteady problem. Then, for any Prandtl number and inverse relative gap width, existence and stability of a steady solution is proved, provided that the Rayleigh number is sufficiently small. The same is also proved for any Rayleigh number provided the inverse relative gap width is sufficiently small. Furthermore, exponential decay to the steady symmetric solution and uniqueness hold true under stronger restrictions to the Rayleigh number.

Natural Convection Heat Transfer From Horizontal Cylinders in a Vertical Arra Confined Between Parallel Walls

Laminar natural convection from an array of horizontal isothermal cylinders confined between two vertical walls, at low Rayleigh numbers, is investigated by theoretical and numerical methods. The height of the walls is kept constant, however, number of the cylinders and their spacing, the distance between the walls and Rayleigh number have been varied. The optimal spacing (confining walls) and ...

Natural convection from horizontal noncircular annulus partially filled with porous sleeve

In this paper natural convection heat transfer within a two-dimensional, horizontal, concentric cam shape cylinders that is partially filled with a fluid saturated porous medium has been investigated. both cylinder are kept at constant and uniform temperatures with the outer cylinder being subjected relatively lower than the inner one. In addition the forchheimer and brinkman effect are taken i...

On the natural convective heat transfer from a cold horizontal cylinder over an adiabatic surface

A steady two-dimensional laminar free convection heat transfer from a cold horizontal isothermal cylinder located above an adiabatic floor is studied both experimentally and numerically. In the experimental measurements the effects of cylinder distance from horizontal floor to its diameter (L/D) on heat transfer coefficient is studied for Rayleigh numbers of 3×105 and 6×105. Computations are ma...

Magnetohydrodynamic Flow in Horizontal Concentric Cylinders

This article presents the exact solutions of the velocity and temperature fields for a steady fully developed magnetohydrodynamic flow of a viscous incompressible and electrically conducting fluid between two horizontal concentric cylinders. Our study focuses on the influence of the Hartmann number, Brinkman number, Péclet number and inner radius on the fluid temperature field, entropy generati...

Natural Convection Heat Transfer from two Horizontal Cylinders

Natural convection heat transfer from a single horizontal cylinder and a pair of vertically aligned horizontal cylinders is investigated. Surface heat transfer distributions around the circumference of the cylinders are presented for Rayleigh numbers of 2 x 10, 4 x 10 and 6 x 10 and a range of cylinder spacings of 1.5, 2 and 3 diameters. With a cylinder pairing the lower cylinder is unaffected ...
